THE BONE

The Bone
When I was a kid, I collected bones and skulls.
I was obsessed with skeletons and spent hours drawing these objects of death. I admired the organic architecture inside broken bones. The bones’ sculptural quality, which reflects biological engineering has always fascinated me. One day I found a bone from a seal flipper on the beach. Using that as a reference, I started to sculpt The Bone. It was a feast to build up the porous inner structures and outer curves. But the most enjoyable part was to paint it - breathing life into death.
